The Valedictory Ceremony of Gopalan International School was held with great dignity and grace on 10 January 2026 at the School Amphitheatre. The ceremony, themed “Illuminate. Impact. Inspire.”, marked an important milestone in the lives of the graduating students of Grades X and XII from the ICSE, ISC, CIE, and NIOS streams, signifying the successful completion of a significant phase of schooling and the beginning of a new academic journey.
The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Major General Vinod Tom Matthew, whose esteemed presence added inspiration and prestige to the event. The ceremony was further honoured by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Mr. Darshith S an alumnus of the school, Director Madam Sunitha Prabhakar, Principal Mrs. Rajashree, and Group Head —Administration, Colonel Robby George.
The programme commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, the Guest of Honour, and other distinguished dignitaries, followed by the Valedictory March, led by the Principal, the Coordinators, the Class Teachers, and the Subject Teachers, marking the ceremonial beginning of the event followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. This was followed by a melodious welcome song, setting a serene and auspicious tone for the ceremony. The Welcome Address formally greeted the gathering, after which the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were introduced and felicitated. The Director, Madam Sunitha Prabhakar, was also felicitated in recognition of her visionary leadership and constant guidance.
In their inspiring addresses, the Chief Guest, Major General Vinod Tom Matthew, and the Guest of Honour, Mr. Darshith S, emphasised the timeless values of discipline, perseverance, and hard work as the cornerstones of success. They encouraged students to dream big, remain focused on their goals, and pursue excellence with integrity. Echoing similar sentiments, the Director, Madam Sunitha Prabhakar, and the Principal, Mrs. Rajashree, urged the graduating students to uphold the school’s values, extend compassion and support to others, and grow into responsible, ethical, and socially conscious citizens. They reminded the students that true success lies not only in personal achievement but also in serving society and making a positive impact wherever they go.
The cultural segment of the programme featured a graceful dance performance that seamlessly blended ballet and salsa, captivating the audience with its elegance and energy. This was followed by heartfelt speeches by parents, who expressed their gratitude to the institution for nurturing their children academically and morally. The valedictorians’ speeches reflected fond memories, gratitude towards all the people who helped them in their lives, and enthusiasm for the academic journey that lies ahead.
One of the most poignant moments of the ceremony was the lighting of the Mother Candle, followed by the lighting of the students’ candles, symbolising the passing on of knowledge, values, and responsibility, and reinforcing the enduring bond between the school and its students.
The ceremony concluded with the cap-throwing ceremony, symbolising the completion of an important academic phase and the readiness of students to embrace new challenges and opportunities in higher education. The event ended on a warm and celebratory note, followed by dinner, which provided an opportunity for interaction among students, parents, and faculty members.
The Valedictory Ceremony was a memorable and meaningful occasion, reflecting Gopalan International School’s commitment to holistic education, strong values, and lifelong learning.
